Response: Demarion- Your comments show that you feel that your rates are changing and that you cannot keep up. After reviewing your charges over the past few days , I can certainly understand why you would be concerned. You saw a very sharp increase in your daily charges during the latest winter storm but this was not because of your rate… it was due to a very big increase in your usage. Please keep in mind that you are under a fixed rate so the price per KWH will not increase. However, severe cold weather will cause your heater to run nonstop for days even if you don’t touch the thermostat. It’s has charged me a multiple a 40$ at a time three times and is still pending charge and no indication of a positive balance I am enrolled in auto pay so that it will take from my card at a certain balance .. it’s tooken more than 130$ and still no positive balance..this is a issue that needs to be addressed

Because of this you feel you have been scammed. It’s a serious situation when a customer feels this way and I don’t blame you for the frustration . A review of your account shows that you are on a fixed rate plan so your rates have not gone up since you enrolled. Our rates are in reality in the same range as all major competitors . Usage does go up and down with the weather so the next thing to do is to confirm that you are being billing for your correct usage. The best way to do this is register at www.smartmetertexas.com the meter information you will need is located in your Payless Power My Account Portal. Another way to reduce your charges is to avoid the $4.95 minimum payment fee. You can do this by making fewer/larger payments of $75or more or my enrolling in autopay. Response: Hi Lisa- To recap, you feel like Payless Power is a scam because your charges started off low and then increased even though your activity in your home remains basically the same . You also feel like there are extra fees. Since I’m unable to locate an account for you, I cannot review your billing but the first thing I would tell any customer is that Payless Power only bills you for the usage reported through your meter. You can audit this by registering with www.smartmetertexas.com. This is a free website operated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and it allows you to see your daily usage in increments as small as 15 minutes. Your meter data is posted there at the same time we receive it so you can always rest assured that your are being billed for the proper amount of power used. The 2nd thing I would is advise is that since we currently only offer fixed rate plans to new customers , your rate did not go up shortly after your started. On the other hand, we did just come out of a historically cold period over Christmas which saw record demand for power across Texas . Smartmetertexas.com can help clarify this for you. There are also easy to use analysis tools on the Payless Power My Account Portal. Including summaries of your daily usage in relation to high and low temperatures in your area. Call us at 888 963 9363 and we can walk you through how to use these great educational and budgetary tools. We do have one potentially impactful fee, a $4.95 minimum payment fee for payments less than $75. We do not have disconnection, reconnection, assistance or late fees which are common across most competitors. Service is really horrible the company don’t care about there customers I pay over 500 dollars a month still can’t get a instalment plan I pay 20 a day for lights for me and my kids I would not 🚫 recommended them to no one very bad service

This company is HORRIBLE! I just had $80 balance in my bill yesterday. Today it’s $48 so they have charged me $32 for one day of electricity! Can’t wait to leave this company

When this over I’m never using this company again. I been in my apartment waiting on lights. I understand it’s my fault they got cut off forgot to pay but to have my kids and I in the dark in the cold and won’t turn my lights on. It said it will take 2 hours or less and it’s well over 2 hours. It’s night time can’t see shit can’t cook my kids just sit here in the dark waiting. This is so wrong I’ll will never with this company again
Response: Ms Adams- It’s a very serious situation when you need power and do not have it. This is especially true at night and when its cold outside. The local power utility, CenterPoint Energy , experienced widespread delays in processing reconnections n 12/21/22. They are the Company responsible for working the disconnection and reconnection orders we submit. Sadly, you would have experienced the same delays in restoring your service regardless of the electric provider you had selected. My bank account from Minnesota was use to pay somebody’s account, I received no help from Payless power on getting on money back.
