We have plans to support you and your energy needs
At Payless Power, our goal is to provide flexible prepaid and traditional electric plans that are competitively priced, while providing the best customer service through the use of technology, innovation, and creative thinking that allow us to forge long-term customer relationships.
The hallmarks of Payless Power include easy sign up with instant approval and no credit checks or deposits; transparent pricing with no gimmicks; prepaid electricity that keeps prices low; informed customers who can save money by controlling usage or adding to their balance without fear of disconnection; stellar customer service that understands our unique customers’ needs and solves problems with speed and kindness. Instead of giving the customer only two options — pay their bill in full or have electricity shut off — we strive to be as flexible with payments as the customer needs us to be and allow weekly (or even more frequent) payments if necessary to fit the customer’s budget.
We are a Texas electric company, and therefore, we care about Texans. For the future, Payless Power leadership envisions adding traditional and postpaid electricity plans to their services.
Payless Power was borne from the imaginations of three enterprising brothers who were inspired by their grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit. In partnership with his own brother, the Youngs’ grandfather started Samsill Plastics out of his garage, a company that still exists today. After recognizing a need in their own communities, Brandon, Byron, and Brian Young created Payless Power in 2005 to help underserved Texas customers secure affordable, reliable electricity.
The company was founded as a prepaid retail electric provider (REP) for those with little credit or a difficult credit history. Payless Power, based in Fort Worth, serves more than 400 residential communities throughout the Lone Star state. In addition, the company partners with Utility Choice to provide commercial and business electricity plans. Texas deregulated its energy market in 1995, and independent companies began offering competitive electricity choices in 2002. The founders understand the importance of family and small business in Texas, which is why Payless Power helps people stay connected with affordable electricity, regardless of income or credit history.
CEO Brandon Young
The Youngs’ grandfather founded the Christ’s Haven children’s home at a farm in Keller, Texas, in 1956, which the brothers continue to support personally and through company sponsorships. Payless Power was named Outstanding Corporate Partner of the Year for Christ’s Haven. Additionally, Payless Power supports the Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County in their “Lose The Training Wheels” program and works with Habitat for Humanity. Payless Power encourages and empowers their staff to remain involved in the community with paid volunteer hours and welcoming employee ideas for charitable work.
Brandon Young serves as a voting member of the Via One family of companies, which focuses on Lifeline Telephone Service, Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB), and 5G network buildout and engineering. The organization’s core focus is to bring telephone and internet service to the underserved and underprivileged communities throughout the United States.
