If I could give zero stars I would. I have been waiting on a my refund since May. They have given me the run around since then. The old your check is in the mail trick. I called and spoke with several representatives and supervisors in reference to the refund that is clearly owed. I’m so happy I switched my services. The representatives were far more helpful then management and their accounting department. I have decided to to seek legal advice in reference to this matter. Now it’s about the principle. I have been completely patient with the company. If I hadn’t paid! You wouldn’t waste anytime turning my lights off. Why do I have to wait 6 months for a refund ????? I made 2 payments to you in April before switching my services. I call and ask to speak with a supervisor and thru leave me on old for 2 hours. Next stop is social media. This is in justice. I just want the funds that are owed to me.

When I signed up for service this summer, Payless was the best rate I could find and I actually liked the thought of prepaid. My EFL states that I am in a 12 Month Rate Lock Plan. However, each month I am paying more and more per kWh!! I signed up based on a locked in per kWh expectation. I realize that my usage is decreasing with the cooler weather, but it’s deceptive and a lie to call a plan ‘Rate Lock’ if the per kWh rate changes each month. EFL Rate Lock per kWh: 15.6¢ 15.2¢ 15.0¢ Energy Charge + TDSP + Taxes July: 15.0¢ August: 15.04¢ September: 16.68¢ Here’s the kicker for… So far for October: Oct 1: 16.09¢ Oct 2: 17.0¢ I’ve lost all faith in this being a good idea and will no longer recommend, but I will actively discourage others from trying or using Payless. All you will do will PAY MORE!

Your concerns are understandable for also explainable. A review of your account show that the figures you are providing comes from the average monthly rate on the bottom of your statement. Please note that the average rate on the bottom of the summary must include all costs incurred outside of taxes and these would be factored into the average. Your energy rate has not increased. It is the same that you signed up for . Centerpoint charges did increase and that has impacted you however this is not a Payless Power charge- this is instituted by Centerpoint to every retail electric provider to pass through. if i could give 0 stars i would this is the worse company i have delt with for peroaid lights literally rates are constantly going up and they have all these fees if you dont pay over 75$ at a time you get a convenient fee like what is that… it is stupid you would think they make enough money with high energy rates but no they had to go and add a convenient fee to it….

The summer resulted in record setting heat which impacted everyone’s charges but thankfully the weather is just starting to cool down which should bring some relief. Why do I have to pay $4.95 just to add money under $75? That’s crazy. I don’t use $75 a week it’s like your forcing me to add more money for no reason. This should be fixed. If it was fixed I would recommend this service to everyone. But if this continues this service is a rip off don’t use it. Beware to this sceem.

You would refer friends and family to Payless Power if it were not for this fee. Thank you for your feedback. It’s important to hear what customers think so we can factor this into our decision making process in the future. The most important thing to realize is that you do not have to pay $75 or more to avoid the fee. You can also make payments as small as $40 with no fee if you enroll in our autopay feature. This will also eliminate any potential for disconnections as it will ensure there are always funds on your account . Also keep in mind that requiring a $75 payment to avoid the fee does not mean that you have to pay more for your electricity… it actually allows you to make fewer payments or to “pay less”. This allows us to manage our rates and try to keep them lower by reducing costs for credit card processing etc. Trying to keep rates lower has not been easy this year due to record prices for the natural gas that is used to run the power plants. Adding a fee that customers can avoid is a better option than raising costs for every customer. We also have seen over the years that customers who make larger payments , fewer times each month are generally more satisfied with the service because it’s a more stress free experience. They charge too much for nothing…. They use to let you put anything you wanted NOW THEY TELL YOU TO PUT $75 or the take out 4.95 if lower… and also you can only put $25 which is about two days in a house… if you don’t want to use this prepaid lights no more and you owe .75 they are going to put a Switch hold on THIS PREPAID ACCOUNT… this really sucks????????♀️????????♀️ And this is an updated review September 20,2022

This fee was added as a way to help of keep our rates as low as possible . The cost of wholesale electricity has been at all time highs due to the price of the natural gas that is used to run the power plants. By adding the fee and giving customers the ability to avoid the fee, we can avoid having to raise our rates even more for all customers. Please keep in mind that not only can you avoid the fee by making a payment of $75 or more, you can also make payments as low as $40 with no fee by enrolling in autopay. Also please note that we would only place a hold on your account if you are unable to pay and accept the offer of a deferred payment plan. Bad customer service no help at all this company is too expensive even if you put more than required minimum and there website they mentioned no hidden fees I consider the 4.95 a hidden fee just cause you don’t do 75.00 or another hidden fee is the recurring payment fee of 3.80 they charge you a day plus the taxes just look at ya statement and it we be there my experience with them is bad I sometimes can’t pay due to work they still disconnect the power and the hassle I have to deal when I get out they don’t care about you all they want is money their excuse is the high cost of living like they don’t make enough with all them fees they charge we be changing providers once I find one Trash company and customer support and their management is trash
