We are a pre-paid company and currently do not charge any of these types of fees; assistance fee for calling a live agent, fee for making a credit card payment , late fee, reconnection fee, disconnection fee. Those types of fees are very common through the industry but you are not being charged for any of them. Although it may not feel this way to you, Payless Power has fewer fees that most other electric providers in Texas … pre-paid or post-paid. We do have the following fees… a daily customer charge that includes your first 17 KWH of power. We also charge a minimum payment fee of $4.95 for payments under $75. The good news is the fee can be avoided by either making a payment of $75 or greater or by making smaller payments via autopay . The kilowatts per hour are two high at $.22 per kilowatt the average data usage is $32 a day that is outrageous I was paying like $280 a week prepaid never in my life have I paid so much on prepaid something Has to be done to lower the kilowatts per hour it seems like every time I look they go higher and higher And they take advantage because we really don’t have a choice one of these prepaid light companies have to take a stand lower their kilowatts per hour and see how many people go run to them and companies like Payless will suffer and be forced to lower the kilowatts per hour there’s nothing Payless about this company I changed companies within three weeks outrageous

You are correct that electricity prices are up in Texas however this is something affecting all electric providers… not just pre-paid companies and certainly not just Payless Power. Payless Power actually offers one of the least expensive rates in your area . However the cost of natural gas which is what the majority of the power plants in Texas uses to generate electricity has been extremely high all year and this results in higher electricity costs from all companies. The other factor is that you live in a high usage residence and this summer has been historically hot . That’s a difficult combination for consumers and sadly this will follow you from company to company until the weather cools down this fall. I’m getting a service fee charged constantly on my account for no reason can it please stop doing that
Response: You review that’s you are being charged fees daily for no reason and requesting that this stop. Fees can be very impactful if you don’t understand how they work so it makes total sense that you have concerns. You plan comes with a daily customer charge of $2.92 per day. This incudes up to the first 17KWH of electricity per day at no extra charge. In June, a minimum payment fee of $4.95 was set up to apply for payments under $75. I do see that you make sever a payments of around $20 each multiple times per month. This will add up. Charged nearly 16 a day for under 1000 SQ ft. No washer dryer. Little electric use. How? That is 450 a month. That is what someone would pay in a much larger home with washing etc. Tried to call several times but I’m 175 or more in line

This is a serious issue and I can see why you would be highly concerned. A supervisor will contact you to discuss the historical usage at your residence which , in fact is mor in alignment with a larger house that an apartment. This could very well be related to the condition of your AC unit . Most expensive electric company and hardest electric companies to get away from . The prices per week you pay is outrageous!! It shouldn’t cost for an small apartment close to $400 dollars a month when ever it used to only cost me $25 bucks a week for my electric. You get turned off if you even a penny negitive or even 5 dollars negative.. in my opinion this has been the worst electric company I think I’ve ever chosen to go with . I’m trying to switch but they don’t make it easy on you too do so

This service is very poor from the wait times on the phone there is always at least 80+ People already waiting to speak with a rep then these people cut your service during crazy hot weather very inconvenient because I have a set pay schedule and I cannot pay everyday if you send a contact form online no one contacts back for days but they have someone available to respond on all of these comments and surprisingly I still have to wait on the phone for a rep to answer… leaving this company as soon as possible!

Long delays to speak to an agent is not a good thing and the record heat has been resulting in record call volume. We will research your issue with delayed email responses because during business hours , emails should be responded to within 1 hour and I do not see a record of email contacts from you. I do not recommend this company at all,I only had it for less than a week and I have spent 20$ a day its just crazy,too much money it is unbelievable.

What you are experiencing is not unusual for customers new to daily billing. The truth is that with this being the hottest time of the year , you will likely use more power now than any other time of the year. You consumption is quite high and the benefit of daily billing is that you do have an opportunity to try to make adjustments. That’s hard when its been as hot as it’s been but you at least have an opportunity to stay within your budget . if you had post-paid service its too late by the time you get the bill. Horrible horrible horrible this company don’t care about us people literally, I just looked at my July statement and when I tell you the price I paid for these prepaid lights is beyond the amount I pay for a regular bill like this company have no leniency at all seriously and it’s sad , I have my thermostat set at 74 everyday and especially with these extremely hot temperatures it’s so hot that my central unit is pulling and blowing it hot air literally light bill for July was $385 like really

You feel like you’ve been charged an outrageous amount and more that postpaid service. When its as hot as it’s been this summer its very easy to feel that way and understandable too. There is little break from the heat. But contrary to how it may seem. Payless Power does indeed care about its customers and the community. The thing that you mentioned that is most concerning is your AC. You may need your landlord or an HVAC professional to take a look at it and check for refrigerant gas . If its low on gas then it will cost you extra money. The other thing to consider is that AC units are not designed to regulate temperatures more that 28 degrees from the inside and outside . So if its 104 outside the coolest a perfectly functioning AC could manage would be 76. There are other factors that would contribute such as your windows, shade and insulation . The bottom lime though is that if your AC was set to 74 in July it would run almost 24 hours a day without cooling your place to the extent you wanted. We sent you a monthly statement of usage and payments yesterday. This is also available through your My Account Portal. ABSOLUTELY THE WORSR LIGHT COMPANY IVE EVER EXPERIENCED I PAID MY BILL AT 1pm on Wednesday my light didnt come back on until 8:40am the next day i was stuck in the dark with a sick baby with covid the worst experience of my life I would never recommend this company to anyone the ruined my whole week and DID NOT CARE THEY DID NOTHING AND I WAS STILL BILLED FOR EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO POWER ZERO STARS

While this was happening you were battling covid and also had a sick baby. This is a major situation and I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been . Our records show that there was an issue with Centerpoint that prevent ed some of the customer we serve in there are a from getting reconnected in a timely fashion. This affected many customers across all electric companies. In fact, you would have experienced similar delays regardless of if you were with another company at that time. Still.
