They suck maybe me do all kinds of things with my landlord I turned it all in and they still made my family go 6 days without power put a hold on my meter but $200 credit with them

Unfortunately, when another company has a switch-hold in place we ,must provide documentation on your behalf for the other company to review. If they determine that the hold is valid we cannot proceed with enrollment and must refund your payment which is what occurred here. I was very happy with my service when I first started it but now I’ve been a customer for almost 2 years and it seems like lately my usage is just higher and higher yes it’s Texas yes it’s hot but it seems like it’s I use way more power than I used last summer and I don’t like this $75 payment or you going to charge me money to make a payment the whole point in choosing this service was because I could pay what I wanted to pay every month so now it’s like having a $75 Bill and I’m paying at least 150 a month this is ridiculous.

You are also unhappy about having to making a $75 payment to avoid paying a fee. This is a big deal that almost every Texan has been facing regardless of their electric provider. Inflated natural gas prices have driven up electricity process for all companies. However, there are some things you can do to lessen this impact. The main thing would be to contact us about upgrading to a fixed rate plan . While variable rate plans offer much flexibility , a fixed rate product would guarantee that your energy rate does not increase for either 6 or 12 months. If I could just make the review giving no stars I would. It was like paying a monthly bill double. Customer service reps, are only doing what they are trained to do. To disconnect service in Texas with the temperature already starting @ 101.is bogus. During a Pandemic and another State Of Emergency really says a lot. I wouldn’t refer to my worst enemy.
Response: Ms Thompson – To recap, your review comments state that you unhappy that your bill has doubled and that Payless Power disconnects customers during a pandemic and also when its dangerously hot. These are both serious issues. Please note that we work closely and in alignment with , Centerpoint, ERCOT and the PUCT when it comes to determining when it is acceptable to disconnect accounts that are delinquent on their charges. Essentially if we are told that’s a heat advisory is in place for an area we do not disconnect. There were many areas in Texas where we did not disconnect for the almost the entire month of July . However, heat advisories were lifted this week even though its still hot. All electric providers follow these same instructions. The same thing happened during the Covid Pandemic. For the first 6 months of the pandemic we did not disconnect anyone who advised they were affected by covid in conjunction with Centerpoint and the Public Utilities Commission . But then the world started opening back up and now there are basically no restrictions of any kind in place. You do bring up an excellent point about the weather though. It has been historically hot since May and this has resulted in record setting electricity usage among Texans . You are still under a contracted rate from a year ago which has protected you from a lot of pricing volatility due to the unstable natural gas market (Gas is used to power most power plants in Texas).We hope you stay with Payless Power and we really are one of the best values… but if you do please renew to another contract. This is the WORST electrical company I have ever contracted with in my life. It does not give customers ANY time and shut off your power if your account credit was depleted to 0. Even in the hottest time of the summer, when it’s 102F outside. I have never worked with a company that has requested you to put money in your account before the service even starts.
Response: Hello- Your comments state that you are upset because you are given no warning or time to prevent disconnection and that you’ve never worked with a company that requires you to pre-pay for your service. This could be the root of the problem . Payless Power is a pre-paid service provider so this can be a shock if you’ve never had pre-aid service before. . I do see that you enrolled in the service only recently and did so online so you may have missed some important details. Let me explain how pre-paid service works. You have one of, if not the lowest rates available in your area. You do have to load funds on your account in advance. We send you a text or email daily showing how much power you used and how much you have left. This is not a service where you will just get a bill in the mail once per month and then have 15 days to pay it. Its more like a toll tag… you add funds and daily charges are deducted from your balance . You just have to maintain at least a penny on your account to have service. If you forget and let the balance fall under $0.00 you can log on to your MyAccount Portal or call the automated phone system or call before noon during business hours to speak to a live agent and request either a same day account protection or deferred payment plan . Scammer. Stay away. Initially the say fixed rate based on Kwh usage but later they adds many miscellaneous charge I never saw with any other energy provider. Scam! Scam! Scam!

We are a pre-paid company and currently do not charge any of these types of fees; assistance fee for calling a live agent, fee for making a credit card payment , late fee, reconnection fee, disconnection fee. Those types of fees are very common through the industry but you are not being charged for any of them. Although it may not feel this way to you, Payless Power has fewer fees that most other electric providers in Texas … pre-paid or post-paid. We do have the following fees… a daily customer charge that includes your first 17 KWH of power. We also charge a minimum payment fee of $4.95 for payments under $75. The good news is the fee can be avoided by either making a payment of $75 or greater or by making smaller payments via autopay . The kilowatts per hour are two high at $.22 per kilowatt the average data usage is $32 a day that is outrageous I was paying like $280 a week prepaid never in my life have I paid so much on prepaid something Has to be done to lower the kilowatts per hour it seems like every time I look they go higher and higher And they take advantage because we really don’t have a choice one of these prepaid light companies have to take a stand lower their kilowatts per hour and see how many people go run to them and companies like Payless will suffer and be forced to lower the kilowatts per hour there’s nothing Payless about this company I changed companies within three weeks outrageous

You are correct that electricity prices are up in Texas however this is something affecting all electric providers… not just pre-paid companies and certainly not just Payless Power. Payless Power actually offers one of the least expensive rates in your area . However the cost of natural gas which is what the majority of the power plants in Texas uses to generate electricity has been extremely high all year and this results in higher electricity costs from all companies. The other factor is that you live in a high usage residence and this summer has been historically hot . That’s a difficult combination for consumers and sadly this will follow you from company to company until the weather cools down this fall. I’m getting a service fee charged constantly on my account for no reason can it please stop doing that

Fees can be very impactful if you don’t understand how they work so it makes total sense that you have concerns. You plan comes with a daily customer charge of $2.92 per day. This incudes up to the first 17KWH of electricity per day at no extra charge. In June, a minimum payment fee of $4.95 was set up to apply for payments under $75. I do see that you make sever a payments of around $20 each multiple times per month. This will add up. Charged nearly 16 a day for under 1000 SQ ft. No washer dryer. Little electric use. How? That is 450 a month. That is what someone would pay in a much larger home with washing etc. Tried to call several times but I’m 175 or more in line

This is a serious issue and I can see why you would be highly concerned. A supervisor will contact you to discuss the historical usage at your residence which , in fact is mor in alignment with a larger house that an apartment. This could very well be related to the condition of your AC unit .
