It stormed yesterday around 6:30pm and the lights went out. I reported the outrage and they gave an ETA of 8:30pm… I waited and waited and also called almost every hour after that to be told they didn’t have an ETA ANYMORE and that the outrage will be fixed ASAP… it is now 1:30am in which I have already called AGAIN and the new ETA is 9am… so I have gone roughly 15 hours with no power. I am not a happy customer. I do not understand why this has not been taken care of yet. A lot of food will have to be thrown away because the power has not yet been restored after roughly 15 hours. I’m starting to rethink my service with this company because of this issue.
Response: Ms Young- It is not a good thing when you lose power during a storm. Oncor , your Transmission and Distribution Utility was forced into emergency mode as around 100,000 customers lost power due to high winds. As you may know, Oncor owns the lines and polls in your area and is the company responsible for repairing them anytime there is damage. You can always reach Oncor by calling the Payless Power automated line at 888-963-9363 and following the prompts to report an outage. You can also skip this by calling Oncor directly at 888-313-4747. This may result in less frustration as you can skip the steps required to get to Oncor through the Payless Power phone system. Published on August 18, 2020
it was easy to get, and was turned on very fast but after having it a few months now I’m thinking it was a bad idea. Daily charge used to be 3$ and now it’s averaging 8-10$ a day for a small 2 bedroom duplex, and I’m at work 5 days a week too, not even home until the evenings. It seems the days I do laundry, and cook are the highest usages, which doing normal household things shouldn’t make you pay double. Not to mention, the overall amount of money I use monthly is only $30 less than what my parents 4 bedroom house costs on electricity. (& they have a big electric company, not prepaid) Definitely doesn’t seem right.
Response: Ms Hanson- We hear that you are concerned and suspicious regarding your daily charges and understand that this is not a good thing. Please call us at 888 963 9363 and a supervisor will review you charges on a 15 minute interval basis which may help you pinpoint what is behind the increase in your charges. We can also compare what was consumed last year at your residence during the same dates. Lastly we can show you how to verify your usage independently regardless of the provider you use . Please note that electricity usage does generally spike up during the deep summer months in Texas. If this is the cause we can also give you some tips on how to reduce your daily costs . Started with Payless Power in January they were easy to set up convenient with good hospitality. The rates were manageable in the beginning but they slowly began to increase over time. I went from paying from$80 a month to$180 last month how does this happen?? I have a schedule made out for my lights so during the day from 5:30 in the morning until 8pm that way no power is rarely used with outlets unplugged. At 8pm-6am there promotion advertises free power no charge between this period. Smh so I contacted Payless Power and the only answer they could give was there rates increased but howww much is this increase Omg!!? Out of 30days the most light usage being used is 20 days and I’m giving some extra. I cant keep up with this rate and the way Covid 19 is causing tripling effect with all business. Its possibly time to start looking for reasonable rates I can afford…
Response: Mr Taylor. I understand that you are concerned about your electric bill . Being skeptical of the legitimacy of your charges is not a good thing but we can help on this front. We can also show you how your can verify your usage independently. If you have not used pre-paid power before you may not be used to the impact of daily usage on your account balance. As summer heat in Texas continues to increase across July and August your electric usage will go up . A supervisor will contact you and can show you the following: 1.) How much power your residence last year at this same time and how it compare s to this year. 2.) What your usage looks like on a daily basis in 15 minute intervals. 3.) Clarity on how our billing works. There seems to be some confusion at this point because Payless Power has never offered a promotion with free nights and weekends, or free power from 8:00 to 6:00 etc. We can review your contract documents if you enrolled online or call recordings if you enrolled over the phone with an associate. Its important for us to learn how you reached this conclusion so we can make it right if you were mis-informed. Published on August 18, 2020
