At first before this whole change in how they give the balance and the rate of electricity used, I would have gave it 4/5stars. Now with the change and all this confusion is really annoying. I feel like I’m constantly giving out money to this company, especially when no one is home 7a-5p and my bill for one day is $10. I have never had that much in one day, and now it’s a continuation almost daily. My bill used to be between $4-5. $15 would last me at least three to four days but not now. I went back to previous bank transactions and I’m paying way more before this change. Very unsatisfied and unsettling. I am no longer saving money with this company. I will have to move on soon.

Response: Tanya, We hate to hear this! At Payless Power, we only bill for what the meter reads, just like other electric companies. If you want more details about your meter, you can register it at www.smartmetertexas.com. We have had many changes going on, but all have been for the benefit of our customers. More time to make payments and more transparency with customer accounts. We hope you will stick with us during this time!
Horrible company ever since there update. Keep charging me more and more per day…my averages daily usage went from 4.54 to 19.98! On a week I was out of town!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE

Response: Hi Jon, We apologize for any frustrations that our new update has caused. The new messages and alerts were created with our customers in mind, as we now give our customers even longer to make payments and more transparency in to their accounts! Did you know that you automatically receive a 20% discount when you keep your account balance at $35 or above? That results in more savings as well as more energy for you to use! We hope this helps.

Response: Allen, We appreciate you as a customer and want you to know that Payless Power can only bill for what the meter reads, just like other electric companies. Have you been keeping your account balance at/above $35? When you do, you automatically receive a 20% savings!
I’ve had this service for a while now. Very disappointed. Throughout the entire summer, ac going all day and night, I hardly ever went over 2 or 3 dollars. Anywhere from 20 to 30 kWh a day. Now that it’s winter and we’re running the heater (which uses less electricity) and by the way, there’s no one home between the hours of 8am and 5pm, our usage has more than tripled. 8 to 9 dollars a day. Where’s the savings I’m supposed to be seeing? Long story short, I’ve had an electrician and an hvac certified central unit specialist both come inspect. Nothing wrong side from the fact that your company has been overcharging me. I know how to read a meter. By my count I’m using about 25 kWh per day. Not the 60 kWh I’ve been billed for day after day for the past month

Response: Hi Kristyn, We appreciate you being a loyal customer. Though your daily charges may have been lower during the summer even when running the A/C often, your heater is using more energy overall, even if it doesn't require as much electricity in general. During the summer if it is around 100 degrees and your house is set at 70 degrees, that's only a 30 degree difference for your A/C. During the unusually harsh winter we have been experiencing in Texas this year, with temperatures almost reaching the single digits, there can be upwards of a 60 degree difference between outside and in your home. Knowing how to read your meter is a great piece of knowledge...did you know that you can register it at www.smartmetertexas.com to get more detail on it? Payless Power can only bill for the meter reads, so registering your meter can give you a lot of insight!
I was paying so little every single day, even during the summer, now all of a sudden I’m paying about $300/month! I was paying less then $100/month! What happened?? Im researching other companies and will be switching before I make another payment. Ridiculous!

Response: Catherine, Just like you, many customers saw significant increases in their energy usage due to the weather. Did you know that using your heater, even if only for a little bit, can cause you to use more energy than your A/C in the summer time? Now that temperatures seem to be normalizing, you should see your account get back to normal. We hope you are utilizing our daily balance alert messages, so that you can keep track of your daily spend! If you aren't, please contact us at 888-963-9363 and we can help!
I’ve had Payless Power for 2 years now. When I first enrolled, I love it. I liked that they sent me a daily balance, the rates were good and I knew what to expect now, I don’t know what has happened. They charge me whatever they feel like charging! I can not be home for days and get charged more kilowatts than I do when I’m actually home! They steal my money and charge whatever they want! Can’t wait to switch!

Response: Alexandra, Thank you for voicing your concern. Payless Power only bills for what the meter reads, just like other electric companies. If you want more detail on your meter and its history, you can register it at www.smartmetertexas.com. The very frigid temperatures we have been experiencing in January has caused many peoples' energy usage to go up. Even if you sparingly use your heater, because of how cold it is, it makes the heater work harder. Also, if you have appliances and other items plugged in to outlets, they are still using energy even if they are powered off! We hope this information is helpful!
At first I liked this, but now you guys are trying to rip people off !!! You guys increased the amount for cost per day which is bogus !!!!
