Going green is relatively easy these days! Have you ever considered switching all your light bulbs to LED bulbs? We aren’t saying run to the hardware store now and replace your working incandescent bulbs, but as your old ones burn out, make the switch to LED. If you haven’t, here are a few reasons why switching to LED energy efficient light bulbs may be worth your while.
1. LED Bulbs Reduce Energy Costs
On average, LED bulbs use around 75% less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs. Plus, LED bulbs give off very little heat, which ultimately can reduce cooling costs!
2. Longer Lifespan
LED bulbs tend to last 35-50 times longer than incandescent bulbs, and 2-5 times longer than fluorescent bulbs. It is important to keep in mind, LED bulbs cost slightly more than traditional bulbs. However, you won’t be changing them as frequently. Not only will LED bulbs save you money on your energy bill, but they’ll save you a few extra trips to the hardware store to replace your old bulbs.
3. They’re Better for the Environment
Traditional incandescent light bulbs can contain hazardous solids, liquids or gases. Fortunately, LED bulbs do not contain these hazardous materials and are better for the environment in the long run.
4. They Are Cool!
While LEDs offer a warm glow, they are cool to the touch, unlike traditional bulbs. The low heat emission also allows for easy changing once they do burn out.
5. LEDs Are Durable
Have you ever broken an incandescent light bulb and had to deal with the shattered glass all over your floor? Talk about a pain! Literally! Luckily, LED light bulbs are made with a thick epoxy which makes them extremely durable and very difficult to break. We don’t recommend throwing them around, but if you do happen to drop one, you likely won’t be sweeping glass off your floor for hours!
