Payless Power, a Texas-based light and power company, understands that you need reliable electricity fast without a lengthy set-up process, cumbersome pre-approval and credit check hoops to jump through, and a hefty deposit. With this in mind, a company that offers same-day electricity service is a company that understands the needs of its clientele.
How Do I Get Same-Day Electricity?
Payless Power can connect your electricity within the same day as long as your house has a smart meter that can be remotely activated. If you’re wondering whether or not your house has a smart meter, don’t worry! It’s likely you do as the majority of Texas households (7.3 million) have a smart meter.
If you’re a new customer and want your electricity switched on within the same day, contact Payless Power using the customer care number (866) 963-9353, and we’ll get you started.
Same-Day Electricity on Move-In Day
In Texas, you can set up your electricity service up to 60 days in advance when moving into a house. If that detail has fallen through the cracks, don’t worry! Call Payless Power early on move-in day (or the day before) or visit our online portal to enroll in a prepaid electricity plan to get service connected instantly.
Apartment Tips
Your apartment complex will likely have lights on in their name for showings, but will then schedule a “move out” date when you move in, meaning you’ll need to set up your own utilities. Many apartment complexes provide a list of electricity companies, hours, and phone numbers.
To keep your lights on or to turn them on instantly, same-day electricity is the cheapest and fastest way to go. After paying pricey apartment deposits, fees, and first-month’s rent, choosing a Payless Power prepaid plan is affordable. You can activate your account for as little as $40–which is not a deposit, but a prepaid balance that goes toward the cost of your electricity.
Oh, and did we mention that our prepaid plans don’t require a credit check or deposit?

Responsive Customer Service
Payless Power provides same-day service hours Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Several competitors end their Saturday service at 2 p.m. We understand that moving doesn’t always go as planned, so we are available to help with any questions you have when setting up your lights and power.
We can also get you reconnected after disconnection. If your electricity has been disconnected as a result of non-payment, simply repay the outstanding amount in full plus a minimal reconnection balance fee to trigger reconnection. Service is typically reconnected within 2 hours once the balance is paid.
What about Weekdays, Holidays, and After Hours?
Limited circumstances may delay same-day electricity connection, including the following:
- Late afternoon or after-hours requests: Payless Power recommends starting the process early in the day to allow for the 4- to 6-hour connection time.
- Sundays and holidays: In Texas, you cannot get same-day electricity on Sundays and holidays.
- Social Security: A social security number is required to connect service for new customers. If not provided on time, the process could be delayed.
- Permit Requirements: A permit requirement from the local city council may cause delays.
- Outstanding Account Balances: An outstanding balance must be paid before reconnection is made.
- No Smart Meter: The absence of smart meters may delay the utility company from remotely activating service that day. A technician may need to make a visit to install a smart meter or activate service on standard meters.
