We have plans to support you and your energy needs
What are Pay-As-You Go Electric Plans?
Pay-as-you-go plans — sometimes called prepaid electricity plans — give you the freedom of seeing your actual electricity usage throughout the month. Simply deposit a balance to your account at your convenience (much like a debit card), and your usage is deducted.
At Payless Power, the goal is to deliver Texas residents affordable electricity rates. Whether in Dallas, Houston, or Corpus Christi, or another area in Texas, Payless Power can give you reliable energy at a reasonable price with a pay-as-you-go electricity plan.
How Paying As You Go Gives You Control
Payless Power sends electricity consumption notifications and account balance updates through text messages or email alerts. Then, you can assess and decrease your power usage to save money.
You can enable an autopay feature to top off your account when the balance gets low, or you can use our online portal to add to your balance on the spot from a phone or computer.
How Does Pay-As-You-Go Electricity Save You Money?
A key benefit of pay-as-you-go lies in not overpaying for energy you don’t use. Pay-as-you-go allows you to specify and pay for the energy you actually use. Use Payless Power’s frequent usage alerts to adjust your energy usage and maximize cost savings.
With pay-as-you-go plans, you prepay for your own predetermined energy needs for the month at a fixed rate. To do this, you must know your home’s monthly electricity use in kilowatt-hours (kWh):
- The national average kWh per month in the United States is around 900 kWh. However, the warmer climate in Texas often results in higher energy consumption.
- A Texas homeowner can typically expect to use between 1,000 and 1,500 kWh per month for an average-sized home.
Pay-As-You-Go Electric Plans vs. Contract Plans
Contract Plans
With contract plans — also known as postpaid plans — consumers sign a contract to receive electric service. This kind of plan often requires a credit check and a hefty initial deposit.
Customers typically receive a monthly bill and have a window of time to pay, which may cause hardship if the payment deadline falls when many other bills are due. Failure to pay usually results in a late fee and notice of impending service disconnection, which electricity companies enforce if the bill isn’t paid.
Pay-As-You-Go Plans
Pay-as-you-go plans are advantageous in comparison, with the required “deposit” serving as the prepayment balance to begin service. Electricity is issued at a pre-specified amount based on your estimated usage (in kilowatt-hours) and is recorded by a smart meter.
Payless Power requires no deposit, no credit check, and no long-term contracts. Everyone is approved same-day, and you can manage usage and when and how you pay.
Benefits of Pay-As-You-Go Electricity
Among the long list of benefits from a pay as you go plan, some of the top advantages Payless Power customers can enjoy include:
- An easy auto pay option – Set a predetermined amount, withdrawn from your credit or debit card, to add to your account balance when it’s getting low. The set-it-and-forget-it auto pay option keeps your electricity on without worrying about a negative balance and interrupted service.
- Bill payment anytime – Payments can be made online, via our app, over the phone, or in person with cash at any Moneygram location in the country.
- Electricity usage management and cost reduction – Payless Power sends usage and low-balance alerts via text and email, so you can adjust your consumption and reap the benefits of real cost savings. Because you get frequent usage alerts, there are no surprises on costs or interruption of service.
Why Switch to Payless Power’s Prepaid Plans
