TEXAS PAY-AS-YOU-GO ELECTRICITY

Take Control of Your Energy Bill

We're Here to Help

We have plans to support you and your energy needs

WHAT ARE PAY-AS-YOU GO ELECTRIC PLANS?

Tired of Texas electric bill surprises at the end of each month? Want to take greater control of your electric usage? If so, a pay-as-you-go electricity plan might be right for you.

Instead of an end-of-the-month bill that can shock your wallet, a pay-as-you-go plan — sometimes called a prepaid electricity plan — gives customers the freedom of seeing their actual utilization throughout the month. Simply deposit a balance to your account (much like a debit card) and your usage is deducted.

Payless Power sends electricity consumption notifications and account balance updates through easy text messages or email alerts. Then, assess and decrease your power usage to save money. You can enable an autopay feature to top off your account when the balance gets low, or you can use our online portal to add to your balance on the spot from a phone or computer.

At Payless Power, the goal is to deliver Texas residents affordable electricity rates. Whether in Dallas, Houston, or Corpus Christi, Payless Power can give you reliable energy at a reasonable price with a pay-as-you-go electricity plan.

Pay-as-you-go electric plans vs. contract plans

With contract plans — also known as postpaid plans — consumers sign a contract to receive electric service. This kind of plan often requires a credit check and a hefty initial deposit.

Customers typically receive a monthly bill and have a window of time to pay, which may cause hardship if the payment deadline falls when many other bills are due. Failure to pay usually results in a late fee and notice of impending service disconnection, which electricity companies enforce if the bill isn’t paid.

Pay-as-you-go plans are advantageous in comparison, with the required “deposit” serving as the prepayment balance to begin service. Electricity is issued at a prespecified amount based on your estimated usage (in kilowatt-hours) and is recorded by a smart meter.

Payless Power has no deposit, credit check, or long-term contract. Everyone is approved, and you can manage usage and when and how you pay. The easy payment options are highlighted below.

How Much Energy Does A Typical Texas Home Use?

With pay-as-you-go plans, you prepay for your own predetermined energy needs for the month at a fixed rate. To do this, you must know your home’s monthly electricity use in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

The national average kWh per month in the United States is around 900 kWh. However, the warmer climate in Texas often results in higher energy consumption.

A Texas homeowner can typically expect to use between 1,000 and 1,500 kWh per month for an average-sized home.

With pay-as-you-go plans, you prepay for your own predetermined energy needs for the month at a fixed rate. To do this, you must know your home’s monthly electricity use in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

A key benefit of pay-as-you-go lies in not overpaying for energy you don’t use. Pay-as-you-go allows you to specify and pay for the energy you actually use. Use Payless Power’s frequent usage alerts to adjust your energy usage and maximize cost savings.
