As Temperatures Rise, Texans Turn Concerns to the Energy Grid
Texas experienced its first heatwave of 2025 this week, causing many residents to hold their breath state-wide. In the wake of winter power grid outages and the population and business boom increasing demand on the energy grid, Texans are raising concerns about brownouts and full outages as the state heads into the summer season.
Power companies are hopeful, however, that renewable and solar energy initiatives across the state will meet the summertime energy demand. During this week’s heatwave, solar energy supplied 25 – 30% of the state’s electricity, and ERCOT is reassuring Texas residents that the energy supply will meet the demand in the coming months.
