Severe weather and flash flooding in south Texas created a state of emergency over the weekend, leading Texas Governor Greg Abbott to activate a warning for residents in the following counties: Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy.
Disaster relief efforts are underway to restore power to homes and businesses and to repair road damages. In the meantime, Texas state officials urge residents to remember the saying “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” when encountering water on roadways.
