Payless Power’s Summertime FAQs

Estamos aquí para ayudar

Summer in Texas is hot, and with the heat typically comes changes in electricity usage and billing. During the warmer months, Payless Power receives a lot of customer questions related to these changes. Check out the answers to some frequently asked questions below to help you keep your cool during the sweltering summer.

1. How long do extensions last and how can I request one?

In the event that a customer can’t make their payment on time, Payless Power will allow extensions through 5:00 p.m. that day. Longer extensions may be granted on a case by case basis by calling the Customer Care team at (888) 963-9363 and asking about a Deferred Payment Plan. If you qualify, Deferred Payment Plans can extend your service for multiple days.

2. Will my electricity be shut off during a weekend or holiday when the bank isn’t open?

Payless Power does not disconnect service on the weekend.  Most, but not all federally recognized holidays are also protected from disconnection. New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are protected from disconnection.  For a complete list, please call Customer Care.

3. Why did my usage and bill go up when I haven’t made changes to my electricity habits?

Almost 50% of the average family’s electricity bill is spent on heating or cooling. As heat rises in the summer, it requires more energy to counteract nature and cool your home. That means that even though the thermostat hasn’t changed since March, your bill will increase.

If you would like to monitor your electricity usage, register at smartmetertexas.com. You can also contact Payless Power’s Customer Service team to receive a detailed report of your electricity usage.

4. How does Payless Power help me save money on my electricity bill?

There are three main ways Payless Power helps you save on your monthly bill. First, Payless Power offers special pricing to customers that keep at least $35 in their account at all times.

Next, Payless Power’s daily invoices help you stay in within your budget by showing your daily usage and charges. Are you in danger of exceeding your monthly electricity budget? With Payless Power you can make changes before it’s too late. Remember, for every degree below 78˚ that your thermostat is set on will add 3% to your charges!

Finally, Payless Power arms customers with ways to reduce their costs by frequently posting energy saving tricks and tips on the website and social media accounts. You can also answer Payless Power’s weekly Facebook trivia question for a chance to win $100 in free electricity!

5. How do I win the $100 in electricity that Payless Power advertises?

Customers become eligible to win $100 of free electricity each week by participating in Payless Power’s Facebook giveaway. Every Monday, Payless Power asks a question on Facebook and asks customers to answer throughout the week. If you answer correctly, you become eligible to win. Winners are chosen randomly and notified each Friday.
