How to Prepare your Home For The Spring

Energy Saving

We aren’t in the thick of Spring and Summer weather yet, but we certainly aren’t far away from daily warm temperatures now! Before you know it, we will be in the midst of warm Texas weather we all know and love. But, while you may be ready for the Spring seasons, your home may not be. Now is the time to prepare your home for the change of seasons. Here are our easy tips to prep your home for the warmer Spring temps to come!

1. Start with The Outside

While our Winter’s aren’t usually too treacherous, they can still do some damage to your home. Now is the time to walk around your home and take note on any caulking that needs replacing around windows and doors, as well as open windows and doors. Also, don’t forget to replace weather stripping! This will keep your home cool during the warm months.

2. HVAC Check

We recommend you change your HVAC filters once a season. Keeping this timeframe can ensure your filters won’t be clogged up, and will be running efficiently. If you haven’t changed your filters regularly, the filters are likely clogged. Clogged filters cause the HVAC to spend more energy pulling the air in.

3. Install Blinds

Drawing your blinds, curtains or other window treatments during the warmer months will help keep the sun out of the room, and thus reducing the amount of heat entering your home. If you have unused bedrooms, keep the blinds drawn. It’s an easy tip that can save you lots!

4. Clean Your Grill & Cook Outside

You guessed it, cooking with an oven or using a stove indoors increases the heat and temperature of your home. Make sure your grill is running in top form so you can cook outside as much as possible this Spring!
