Houston 4th of July Events


Independence Day is right around the corner and there are many inexpensive Houston 4th of July events that offer entertainment for the whole family. Payless Power, which offers cheap electricity to Houston and the surrounding areas, offers these ideas for your July 4th holiday.

Freedom Over Texas

Featuring performances by country music greats Billy Currington and Sara Evans, Freedom Over Texas at the Eleanor Tinsley Park at Buffalo Bayou, promises to be a fun Houston July 4th event. Enjoy the Freedom Market or The Bud Light Zone, featuring the Seventh Annual Bud Light Texas Volleyball Championship Series Finals. The kids will love the Walmart All American Kids Zone with the free rides and attractions for children, and be sure to check out the KBR Liberty Park “Symbols of Freedom,” with the displays of military aircraft and vehicles. Admission is free with the donation of a canned good, or $8 per person.

Miller Outdoor Theater ExxonMobil Star-Spangled Salute

Enjoy patriotic, toe-tapping music at the Miller Outdoor Theater, featuring Michael Krajewski and the Houston Symphony. In addition, Jonathan Beedle and AJ Swearingen, Simon & Garfunkel tribute artists, join the orchestra to make the evening even more memorable. The concert ends with the 1812 Overture, complete with booming cannons and a magnificent fireworks display. Free tickets are available for this Houston July 4th event at the box office the day of the performance from 10:30 AM until 1 PM. Tickets are limited to four per person over the age of 16. There will be open seating on the hill.

The Sounds of Freedom

The City of Friendswood offers the 117th Annual Friendswood Fourth of July Celebration. This Houston July 4th event is themed “The Sounds of Freedom” and kicks off with a parade starting at 10 a.m. The parade concludes at Stevenson Park, where over 50 booths, rides, games and food will be available for visitors. Enjoy live entertainment of all types throughout the day. The evening program, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Centennial Park, offers high energy and exciting entertainment with The Big Time, named the No. 1 band in the southern United States. The evening ends with fireworks choreographed to patriotic music.
