It’s Memorial Day, which for most marks the beginning of summer! The school year is winding down, swimming pools are opening up, and you are probably spending more time at home than in the months school is in session. Saving energy doesn’t need to be boring, and can be something that involves the entire family! Take a look at our family-friendly ways to save energy this summer!
1. Go Stargazing!
Plan a weekly stargazing adventure with your family. Getting outdoors in general means less time spent on the couch, likely watching TV and running up your energy bill. Instead of Friday night movie night, do a Friday night stargazing session!
2. Get Grilling
Who doesn’t love grilling outdoors? Summer is cookout season, which gives you an excuse swap out your oven for the charcoal grill. Plus, using a gas or charcoal grill requires little or no energy, unlike your energy-sucking oven or microwave.
3. Take A Family Bike Ride
Make it a fun routine to take a family bike ride in the evening after dinner. Explore your neighborhood, or new areas in your town. We are all about getting outdoors this summer!
4. Outdoor Movie Night
Schedule an outdoor movie night with your neighbors! Everyone can pitch in to rent a projector and screen, and make it an event! Set up beach chairs, towels, blankets and come together to watch a family-friendly film under the stars!
